Will Diablo IV be an open world game?

Lilith in Diablo 4

It seems that Diablo IV will indeed be an open world game. According to gamerant.com, the game will feature five regions instead of acts, allowing players to tackle the storyline in any order they choose. The game's campaign had to change as a result of introducing open world into the franchise, but players are allowed to choose which region to undertake after concluding the game's prologue. Players are not necessarily forced to follow the main story and are free to explore the open world and level up.

This is not the first time we've heard about Diablo IV being an open world game. As reported by diablo4.purediablo.com, players can approach acts in a different order and there will be a map of the open world with different ways to view it. In addition, there will be Strongholds that players can take back to create friendly outposts and mounts will be introduced to help players travel long distances.

While there are still some details that have not been fully explained by Blizzard, it seems clear that Diablo IV will offer a more open and non-linear experience than previous games in the series. This shift in focus is likely a response to feedback from fans who have been calling for more open world gameplay options. As pcgamer.com reports, Diablo IV's developers have said that players "want open world and free choice, but they also want to be told where to go next."

Whether or not this new direction will pay off for Diablo IV remains to be seen, but it's clear that Blizzard is looking to keep things fresh for fans of the franchise. If you're a fan of Diablo or just looking for a new open world game to sink your teeth into, Diablo IV could be the perfect choice.
