Best Laptops for Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters (Black Friday Update)

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is an upcoming action-strategy and turn-based tactics video game based on a tabletop-game Warhammer 40,000.

The game is played from the isometric perspective, which provides the player with a view from above, at an angle. In it, the player commands a Grey Knight squad in campaign, combat and other missions against the forces of Nurgle and the Daemons they summon.

When in combat, players move their characters individually in a turn-based fashion.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is set to be released 5 May 2022. The game is being developed by Canadian studio Complex Games and will be published by Frontier Foundry.

The game will feature both single-player campaign and multiplayer modes.

Multiplayer gameplay focuses on 3v3 games, with each player taking control of a squad of three different characters.

There are currently seven playable character classes available in the game, each with their own unique abilities and loadouts.

Campaign has players tackling a series of single-player missions that take place on three unique planets, each offering unique objectives and maps.

TL;DR

Processor

Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters

Granted, they're essential to gaming. But even with a capable CPU, a poor GPU will leave you with a stuttering framerate. So you can't neglect your graphics card, but there's no point in stressing over it either.

It's all about balance.

Requirements

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is not demanding at all and can be played on the following processors:

  • i3-10110U or Ryzen 3 3350U – bare minimum
  • i5-1135G7 or Ryzen 5 4500U – if you're on a budget and don't mind being slightly behind Intel CPUs
    • for better performance and smoother gameplay at high resolutions (4K)
  • i7-11800H or Ryzen 7 4800H – for laptops with higher refresh rates (144Hz) and high resolutions (4K)

Recommendations

What processor should I get? The choice is yours! But I recommend one of the following models:

  • i3-10110U – for gamers on a budget who don't care about their FPS averages too much
  • Ryzen 3 3350U – best for mid-range gaming rigs with Intel processors as a runner up Ryzen 5 4500U – best for gamers with high resolution displays or players on a budget who want the best performance they can get out of their laptop. If you're looking for something cheaper but still reliable and up to the task, consider getting an AMD laptop instead of an Intel laptop. There are plenty of great models available at low prices that won't let you down in the long run. And lastly, Ryzen 7 4800H is perfect for gamers with high refresh rate displays or laptops with higher resolutions like 4K (although I wouldn't recommend them for everyone).
TL;DR
  • Intel Core i3/Ryzen 3 is a good start
  • AMD Ryzen 5 4500U is best for gamers with high resolution displays or players on a budget who want the best performance they can get out of their laptop
  • Ryzen 7 4800H is perfect for gamers with high refresh rate displays or laptops with higher resolutions like 4K (although I wouldn't recommend them for everyone)

Graphics card

Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters

This is a game that doesn't use a lot of graphics power. That's why it's tough to find a graphics card that'll make the game more playable on any level. I'm not sure if this will be an issue for anyone, but I wanted to list it as an example just [in case](the wiki page on fortnite).

Minimum graphics (under $1000)

If you're dead set on playing Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters with integrated graphics, I'm afraid there are no words of consolation for you. Integrated GPUs struggle to reach 10 FPS on low settings. The good news is that with some sacrifice in visuals, this framerate could be reached on low settings for those who really need to play the game.

The first time GPU that can at least approach playable framerates is Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. It can deliver 60 FPS on medium settings and above with good compromise in visuals. There are better GPUs for this purpose – AMD Radeon RX 5600M or RTX 2060 – but they cost significantly more than GTX 1660 Ti does.

Recommended graphics ($1000 – $1600)

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti manages to provide at least a stable 60 FPS on medium settings and above with some compromise in visuals. In my opinion, this is the best possible option for playing Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters and only has one competitor – AMD Radeon RX 5600M or RTX 2060, both of which cost significantly more than GTX 1660 Ti does.

Memory

Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters

It's easy to get this wrong. All of the laptops out there seem to have a pretty similar RAM setup, usually tied to the processor and laptop's price bracket. The only spec that is worth your time to get it right is the total memory size.

Minimum (8 GB)

In a rare instance, you could get away with an 8GB RAM laptop. But if you don't have the budget for an extra stick of RAM – then stay away from it.

Recommended (16 GB)

For most purposes, 16GB is perfect. It should cover all of your needs, from work to gaming and everything in-between. But for Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, which does require a fair amount of RAM, I'd recommend upgrading to 32GB for future-proofing purposes.

Best (32 GB)

If you can afford it – go for 32 GB or more. That will make your system future-proof and less likely to cause any trouble in the long run. Plus, we live in a world where RAM is relatively cheap these days.
