Best Laptop for Rainbow Six Extraction

Rainbow Six Extraction On August 21, 1998, Rainbow Six was released to the world. The game, along with its great community and brilliant modding support, has endured throughout the years. And after a while, I decided that it’s time to put this classic gem on a pedestal once again.

While I personally enjoy Call of Duty Warzone or PUBG better (both as casual and competitive player), there’s something utterly satisfying about taking down four terrorists in Rainbow Six – going deep and stalking them patiently for three minutes, before nailing them with a carefully timed frag grenade or gliding silently through their defense line with an M8A7 submachine gun in hand. In all seriousness, this is what makes R6 so special – while other shooters want you to rank up as fast as possible by doing 1v1 duels or let you pay real money for upgrades without much skill involved, R6 takes a different approach to getting stronger – more strategic thinking, more precise shooting, more patience and perseverance.

Yeah, I could spend another paragraph to explain what a Rainbow Six game is all about but it’s redundant and confusing at the same time. We’ve already covered some previous iterations so we have some idea about the franchise – it’s about operators and hardcore tactical firefights with lots of details.

Before we start, it’s important to mention that official system requirements are not yet announced. But have no worries, I’ll do my very best predicting the hardware you gonna need for this game based on my experience and all the reliable unofficial sources I could find online. I’m pretty sure you won’t regret!

Requirements for a Rainbow Six Extraction laptop

Major Memory

Rainbow Six Extraction is no exception when it comes to RAM requirements. It will take advantage of more RAM, but good old 16 GB is still enough.

Minimum (8 GB)

The minimum you should consider is 8GB. That’s enough for playing most games at low settings, but I would advise against doing so with Rainbow Six Extraction – it will look like a slideshow. On the other hand, 8GB is just fine if you’re looking for a very cheap laptop. And yes, this game should run on that much RAM – with some hiccups here and there.

Recommended (16 GB)

If you can afford to pay a little more for your laptop – 16GB will be the sweet spot. With 16GB of RAM, you’ll be able to comfortably play Rainbow Six Extraction at high settings without any hiccups. Plus, you’ll have more room to multitask or keep multiple games open in the background. You’ll even be able to comfortably stream your gameplay!

Recommended (32 GB)

When it comes to Rainbow Six Extraction, 32GB of RAM may be a little overkill, but if you looking at the high-end priced laptops – that is becoming a new standard. That much of RAM will let you multitask super smoothly and most important – make your laptop very future-proof.

Major Processor

In a nutshell, the processor’s task is to get the information from the hard drive and process it into a signal that can be sent to the monitor. This is an oversimplification, but I hope you get the point. The more intense the processing needs are, the more power your CPU will need.

In case of Rainbow Six Extraction, I don’t expect it to be exceptionally CPU hungry. You should be fine with an entry-level CPU – either Core i3 or Ryzen 3 if you don’t mind playing at lower graphics settings or resulution. If you’re not satisfied with the framerate, just try playing on medium graphics settings or lower resolution. Higher-end CPUs like Core i5/Ryzen 5 or Core i7/Ryzen 7 will surely be more than enough to enjoy the game to the fullest.

So what should I buy? It’s hard to make specific recommendations as it highly depends on your gaming expecations. I’d recommend Core i5 or Ryzen 5 models as it should deliver enough performance for most of you. But if FPS matters more than anything else and you want to be future proof for all the other more demanding game – then go for Core i7 or Ryzen 7.

While Core i9 and Ryzen 9 series are the best of the best, it might bring down the performance and price ratio. Of course, assuming GPU/RAM/etc can keep up – there is not good reason to not pick those. Just keep in mind that games usually depend more on graphics card than processor, so getting the top of a line CPU while cheaping out on GPU is never a good idea.

  • Core i3 or Ryzen 3 should be fine if lowering some settings isn’t a problem for you to
  • Core i5 or Ryzen 5 has the optimal price/performance ratio
  • Go with Core i9 or Ryzen 9 if your budget is wide enough

Major Graphics card

Rainbow Six Extraction graphics

Graphics cards are vital for any modern AAA game, and this no exception for Rainbow Six Extraction. So in order to equip your laptop with the best graphics card for Rainbow Six Extraction, I’ll take a look at each GPU in the market. I always try to recommend stuff having in mind that it’s very unlikely that a gamer will stop on one particular game and will expect the same machine to run other games in category smoothly. That being said, let’s dive into details.

Minimum needed graphics

Even If you’re on a tightest budget, you should never ever consider integrated graphics for a gaming laptop. The cheapest yet considerable option is budget-class, but dedicated GPUs – it’s either RTX 3050 (preferably a 3050 Ti version) or GTX 1660 (also preferably a Ti version). Before you ask, don’t be fooled by the GTX 1660 model name. While the name itself may seem much “lower” than 3050, actually it’s not true. GTX 16xx cards may outperform some low-end RTX models like 3050. The only downside is that GTX cards do not have dedicated ray tracing cores, but low-end RTX models will struggle with ray tracing and you’ll almost always find yourself turning it off in the game settings anyway.

Recommended graphics

The next card up would be RTX 3060 – one step higher model in the RTX hierarchy that should deliver ~60 or more FPS on medium settings with reasonable compromises in visual quality. It will do just fine if you want a little bit more power than entry-level options offer but don’t want to break the bank completely by going for top-of-the-line models. If you ask me – I’d say that’s the sweet spot for a regular gamer.

Best graphics

Another step further – higher-end RTX 3070 and the top of the line RTX 3080. These bad boys will definitely deliver you the smoothest game play Rainbow Six Extraction can offer – expect more than 100 FPS on even the highest settings. These cards come with significant performance advantage over their predecessors but also come with an equally significant price tag attached to them. Bottom line – look at these cards only if you consider yourself as a hardcore-gamer or price just does not matter for you.

  • Integrated GPUs are no good for gaming
  • Mid-range GPUs like RTX 3060 are safe safe choice, but you may need to make some compromises in game settings if you want a lot of FPS
  • If you want the best performance, go for top of the line GPUs like RTX 3080
