Best Laptops for PUBG in 2022 (Fall Update)

PUBG When it comes to Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG, no introduction is needed. It’s still one of the most popular multiplayer games out there. After being bombarded with various clones, however, PUBG decided to become the thing they tried to replicate. It added a full-fledged campaign that you can play with your friends or even on your own. What’s more – it introduced new ways like Event mode or Casual mode to play. Although they have mixed reviews, I think that you can’t have enough of good content. Plus, this update helped PUBG overcome Fortnite in concurrent players (well, for a while at least). That said, there are some fresh insights for your gaming experience you can grab here if you’re looking for some brand new laptop to play PUBG. This guide will provide you with an idea of what parts will make your new gaming laptop perform well on PUBG (and other more demanding games).

There are two things you should consider if you’re not on the hunt for the latest high end specs – CPU and RAM capacity. More on that later though.

Now, let’s dive into find the best laptops for PUBG in 2021!

TL;DR
  • This guide will provide you with an idea of what parts will make your new gaming laptop perform well on PUBG (and other more demanding games).

Requirements for a PUBG laptop

Major Processor

Processor

PUBG is said to be using CPU more than most of other games. CPU with good single-core performance is what this particular game needs the most. That is quite different from most of other games, as the rule of thumb, they will almost always depend on GPU more. But don’t get me wrong, CPU is almost always a second most crucial component in gaming systems. Indeed, in today’s standards – PUBG is not very demanding. Just keep in mind, it’s not the case for majority of new games. And of course, game requirements are only going up. That being said, you should consider investing in a CPU that can be future-proofed for more demanding games.

Recommendations

So what CPU would be best for PUBG? It depends on your budget and what you plan to do with your laptop. If your sole goal is to play PUBG at basic FPS rates – then new generation Ryzen 3 or Core i3 should be just fine for now.

But if you’re looking for a well-rounded laptop – one that will let you play games like Battlefield 2024, Call of Duty Warzone, and Forza Horizon 5 without any issues – then I recommend going with at least Core i5/Ryzen 5 processor family.

It’s worth noting that for some modern games to be played smoothly, high-end laptops with Intel Core i7/Ryzen 7 processors are something you should look for.

In other words, you don’t need an Intel Core i7/Ryzen 7 processor for PUBG alone – there are more suitable options at lower price points, but if you want your laptop to be universal gaming machine and have budget for that – do not hesitate – better CPU will make your life easier.

TL;DR
  • i3-10110U or Ryzen 3 3250U is the bare minimum for PUBG
  • if you want to play PUBG smoothly, consider i5-10300H or Ryzen 5 4500U
  • go with i7-11800H or Ryzen 7 4800H if you plan on gaming more demanding games

Major Graphics card

laptop pubg

For a game like PUBG, graphics card isn’t something you should worry too much. Although integrated GPU is not the option, low end GPU like GTX 1650 will do. I’ll cover the bare minimum, recommend, and best video card options for playing PUBG.

Minimum graphics

In order to play PUBG with reasonable FPS count, you can easily fit to $1000.

For anyone who’s comfortable with playing at around 60 FPS, it’s no need to go any futher than GTX 1650 Ti. Even a regular GTX 1650 should be enough, but I wouldn’t recommend you getting anything below that. But frankly, having in mind today’s laptop market, you can’t really go any lower than that. Well, except something without dedicated GPU at all, but as I said before, that’s never an option for a laptop you plan to game on.

Recommended graphics

GTX 1660 Ti and RX 5600M will both offer enough power to reach around 80-100 FPS (depending on how much action is going on) and beyond on High settings without much difficulty. It’s worth noting that GTX 1660 Ti has the slight edge here due to its better performance per dollar ratio. Older generation laptops with RTX 2060 will perform about the same or slightly better on this game, but you don’t see those too often these days.

Best graphics

The next step up – RTX 3060, and RTX 3070 as worthy contenders. I’d say RTX 3060 is currently the best opton at this price point as it offers decent performance and comes in a lot of laptops. That means there are plenty of laptops with different CPU/RAM/Storage configurations in the market for you to choose. Going further – RTX 3070 is another step up. And it’s quite a step. According to bechmarks, it’s almost [30% faster than RTX 3060](notebookcheck rtx 3060 benchmarks). That will definitely give your laptop a significant advantge overall, but keep in mind that for PUBG in particular, it may not feel that much. That being said, RTX 3070 (or even RTX 3080 if you have solid budget) will make your laptop ready for more demanding games, but it’s kind of overkill if you only have PUBG in your mind.

TL;DR
  • GTX 1650 or GTX 1650 Ti will do for playing PUBG, but don’t expect super high FPS rate
  • I’d say GTX 1660 Ti is the sweet sport for playing PUBG at decent 70-80 FPS
  • Laptop with RTX 3060/RTX 3070 will be good for more demanding games as well

Major Memory

laptop memory

If you’re going to buy a laptop for playing PUBG, make sure you have at least 8GB of RAM. This is a bare minimum, and I can honestly recommend that only if your budget is too tight for anything more. With only 8GB, you might experience some lags from time to time and it would be unbearably slow on higher settings. And let’s not forget that the more things you have open in the background – the more RAM you’ll need.

The recommended amount of RAM for PUBG is 16GB. It’s not quite as demanding as some other games, but it still requires a lot of resources to run smoothly. And this should be enough for most games out there. We all know you’ll probably want to try something else too.

32GB is always the best option if you have a budget. Though it’s not exactly necessary – PUBG doesn’t need that much memory to work properly. It just helps if you’re planning on doing other things while playing: streaming your gameplay, watching YouTube videos in the background, running a dozen tabs in Chrome, or just keeping multiple games open and switching between them.

TL;DR
  • 8GB RAM is the bare minimum
  • 16GB is the recommended amount of RAM not only for PUBG, but for gaming in general.
  • 32GB is always the best option if you have a budget, but not exactly necessary for PUBG.
