The Right Laptop for Corel VideoStudio 2022 (Ultimate / Pro)

Introduction

Corel VideoStudio 2022 workspace

There are many reasons to start using Corel VideoStudio as your go-to video editing software. For me, it was the simple and straightforward interface that won me over. It’s true that the software doesn’t have some of the bells and whistles that you find in other editors. However, I found that to be a refreshing change of pace. In this guide, I’ll show you the best laptops for Corel VideoStudio so that you can make your videos look their absolute best.

We’ll begin by going over the basic hardware requirements for Corel VideoStudio. Then, we’ll move on to some specific recommendations for laptops that will provide the best performance for the software. By the end of this guide, you’ll be able to choose the perfect laptop for your video editing needs.

Graphics

When it comes to video editing, a powerful GPU is necessary to handle the demanding tasks. Corel VideoStudio has a long history of being able to leverage both the CPU and GPU for accelerating rendering tasks; however, I’m not sure if they’ve updated their code to take advantage of modern APIs such as OpenCL or CUDA.

If you’re going for a high-end laptop with an Nvidia or AMD graphics card, you’ll need to ensure that your battery runtime won’t be hindered by the higher power consumption of these chips. The best way to compare graphics performance is by using benchmark scores; however, there aren’t many tests available for Corel VideoStudio. I’ll have to use Cinebench R20 as my main comparison point since it’s one of the most popular 3D rendering benchmarks around.

At the minimum budget level, you should be able to get a laptop with an RTX 3050. This will be enough to handle smaller projects without any issues. However, you might have to wait on the computer to catch up with your edits occasionally. If you can stretch your budget a bit further, I’d recommend going for an RTX 3070. This will give you a significant performance boost and make your editing experience much smoother. For high-end laptops, I recommend getting an RTX 3080 Ti. This will give you the best possible performance and allow you to edit even the most demanding projects without any issues.

Here are my recommendations for different budget levels:

* Minimum: RTX 3050

* Recommended: RTX 3070

* High-end: RTX 3080 Ti

Processor

Processor

If you’re looking for a new laptop to run Corel VideoStudio 2022 (Ultimate / Pro), there are a few things you need to keep in mind. First, VideoStudio is only available for Windows, so MacBooks are not an option. Second, video editing is a demanding task that requires a lot of processing power, especially if you’re working with 4K footage or 8K RAW files (though those are not very common yet). Third, since most video editing applications rely on single-thread performance, we should prioritize processors with high single-core scores; meanwhile, multi-core performance is still important for rendering effects and codecs (especially h.265).

With that said, let’s take a look at what’s new in the processor market and how it affects video editing.

What’s New in the Processor Market?

AMD has managed to take 20% of the CPU market with their 6th generation Ryzen processors. The Ryzen 7 5800U offers excellent multi-core performance thanks to its 8 cores and 16 threads while the Ryzen 7 4800U offers great single-core performance and battery life thanks to its 4 cores and 8 threads. Both CPUs offer good value for money and are worth considering if you’re looking for a new laptop for video editing.

Intel has also recently released its 12th Core processor generation which has made great leaps in both single-core and multi-core performance. The Intel Core i7 1185G7 offers excellent single-core performance thanks to its 4 cores and 8 threads while the Intel Core i9 1195G7 offers amazing multi-core performance thanks to its 8 cores and 16 threads. Both CPUs are expensive but offer good value for money if you need the extra horsepower for video editing or other demanding tasks.

How Much Horsepower Do You Need for Video Editing?

This is a difficult question to answer because it depends on what kind of video editing you’re doing. If you’re just doing simple edits like cutting and splicing footage together, you can get away with a less powerful processor. However, if you’re doing more complex edits like color correction or working with 4K footage, you’ll need a more powerful processor.

Memory

You’re going to need to make sure it has enough RAM to handle the demands of video editing. Here’s what you need to know about choosing the right RAM for your needs.

How Much Memory Do You Need?

The minimum amount of RAM you’ll want for video editing is 8 GB, but 16 GB is really the sweet spot. If you’re working with complex effects or large files, then 32 GB would be just ideal.

Is DDR5 Worth the Money?

If you can find a laptop with DDR5 RAM in your price range, then it’s definitely worth getting over DDR4. However, if not, don’t worry too much about the difference between these two types of memory – they both perform well enough for most tasks.

Storage

If you’re looking to buy a new laptop for use with Corel VideoStudio 2022 (Ultimate / Pro), then you’re going to want to make sure that it has a fast SSD. This is because video editing is one of the many applications that can really take advantage of an SSD. While a regular HDD will work just fine for most people, I must say that SSDs have become the new standard and will make your life much easier when it comes to opening and saving projects.

When looking for an SSD for video editing, there are a few key things to look out for – performance, reliability and endurance. Performance is easy enough to understand – we want as high MB/s read and write speeds as possible. Reliability is also important – I’d rather not buy a drive with a history of data corruption issues or sudden death syndrome (SDS). Finally, endurance is the amount of data that can be written to the drive before its performance starts to degrade noticeably.

If you’re looking for a budget option, then you’ll have to make some sacrifices in terms of storage capacity and speed (if you’re going with an MLC drive). If you can afford it – get at least 1TB (or even 2TB) SSD with 3D NAND memory (such as Samsung’s V-NAND or Intel’s 3D QLC). This will ensure that your laptop has plenty of space for your projects without having to resort to external drives or cloud storage solutions (which might not be ideal due to their limited bandwidth).

There are many ways to test an SSD’s performance in video editing applications – from synthetic benchmarks such as AS SSD Sequential Read & Write all the way down to real-world tests. In general, though, I’d recommend avoiding SATA drives since they’re slower than PCIe NVMe drives by about 30%.

Here are my recommendations for SSDs depending on your budget and needs:

  • – Minimum: 512 GB
  • – Recommended: 1 TB
  • – High-end: 2 TB
